Struggling with hormonal teenagers? Parenting expert Anita Cleare is here to help!
This July, parenting expert and author Anita Cleare is on hand at two of Superdrug’s London stores as part of their ‘Glow Through It’ campaign to guide parents and teenagers through hormonal changes that can be unsettling and difficult to talk about.
Mood swings and a change in bodily appearance play havoc with your teenager’s behaviour. Fear of getting your head bitten off or an awkward conversation could make you feel stressed and anxious, which is not going to do either of you any good.
To help tackle these sensitive subjects, Superdrug has launched a campaign ‘Glow Through It’, a teen health clinic that allows parents and teens the opportunity to have a 1-2-1 session and discussion with Anita to discuss all things related to puberty.
This pioneering new walk-in service is designed to support young people through the emotional, physical and social challenges of puberty, and help parents feel more confident guiding their children through this key life stage. Anita Cleare will provide free, walk-in access to confidential advice and guidance on everything from acne and personal hygiene to body changes, emotional wellbeing and self-confidence.
Anita Cleare is a top parenting guru and author. She visits Superdrug Marble Arch on Wednesday 9th July 10 – 4 pm, and Superdrug The Strand on Wednesday 23rd July, 10 am – 4 pm.
Superdrug’s new pilot teen advice clinics launch in response to new research, which reveals the emotional toll of puberty on teens and also parents:
Nearly 9 out of 10 87% 18-24 year olds didn’t feel comfortable with their body whilst going through puberty
70% of 18-24 year olds felt anxious going through puberty, 69% had low self-esteem and 59% felt embarrassed
60% of teens withdrew from social situations, due to shyness and lack of confidence
Rebecca Bishop, Superdrug’s Head of Healthcare Services, comments, ” Puberty can be an incredibly confusing and overwhelming time for young people, and it can be just as daunting for parents. We want to break down the stigma around this life stage and make expert health advice easily accessible to every family. Our teen health advice clinics are about meeting teens where they are, on the high street, and offering them friendly, judgement-free support to help them feel confident, informed and cared for.”
Anita Cleare comments, “The physical changes of puberty are just one part of the story. For many teens, the emotional and social challenges can be even harder to navigate. What young people need is open, honest, expert guidance they can trust. Superdrug’s teen advice clinic is a brilliant and much-needed step forward in giving teens — and their parents — the tools to face this stage of life positively and confidently.”
The launch of Superdrug’s high street teen advice clinic is part of Superdrug’s wider ‘Glow Through It’ campaign, to help support teens through the often-overlooked physical, emotional and social challenges of puberty, whilst also providing much-needed guidance and support for teen parents.
As a leading high street health and beauty retailer committed to supporting the nation’s health and wellbeing needs, Superdrug is reshaping this outdated teen narrative with its new campaign. By offering new healthcare services, educational resources and support, Superdrug’s campaign aims to reduce the stigma and transform puberty into a more positive experience, helping teens feel informed and empowered to manage these changes with confidence, instead of fear. Superdrug’s campaign also provides resources for teen parents, who may also have their concerns and require expert support and guidance.
As part of the campaign, Superdrug is also introducing:
High street’s first dedicated teen Pharmacy skincare service providing free walk-in support, expert advice and tailored treatment, for young people going through puberty.
Teen Edit expertly curated Superdrug Own Brand health and beauty product bundles to support teens through this important life stage and make everyday that little bit easier.
Gen Z product descriptions written for everyday essential puberty vitamins and minerals such as Calcium, Omega 3 and Vitamin D. By reworking the traditional product descriptions into phrasing that resonates with this audience, such as ‘Our Body’s BFF’ and ‘Healthy Bones + Good Vibes’ teens will have a better understanding of the benefits of these key vitamins, helping them to make informed healthcare decisions that will support them during this key life stage.
Glow Through It website contains essential puberty advice and support including ‘Teen Taboo’ videos for teens and parents. The dedicated website also includes key charity information for further support and guidance.
