The new Didsbury store marks a milestone in the business’s journey, which began in Lymm in 2011, where brothers Chris and Stephen Shelmerdine first opened. Fifteen years on, Coffee House has grown into one of the North’s leading independent coffee groups. The latest opening marks a new chapter for Coffee House as the business continues its expansion across the North of England

The Didsbury store will bring quality coffee, homemade food, and handmade baked products to one of Manchester’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, while offering customers an entirely new store experience through store design and further developments in product offering. The opening celebrates how far Coffee House has come and offers a glimpse into the brand’s future as it continues its ambitious expansion across the North and into the Midlands.

Earlier this year, Coffee House announced it had secured a further £7 million investment from entrepreneur and investor Andy Bell, founder of AJ Bell, and his former business partner, Fergus Lyons, to support an accelerated growth programme across the North of England and beyond. The new funding follows an earlier £4 million investment, reflecting continued confidence in the company’s expansion strategy and operating model.

Chris Shelmerdine, Co-Founder, said:

“Surpassing our 50th store is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when starting our journey only 15 years ago. We are incredibly thankful to everyone who’s supported us along the way, and we couldn’t be prouder of what our teams have achieved.
Didsbury is particularly exciting because it’s given us the chance to think differently and reimagine the future of Coffee House. We’ve taken everything we’ve learnt over the years and created a space that really represents where Coffee House is heading.
Fifty stores is a milestone we’ll definitely celebrate, but for us it’s also about looking ahead. We continue to have growing ambitions for Coffee House, and we’re only just getting started.”

Coffee House Didsbury is set to open on Friday 23rd October.

Investor Andy Bell said:

“Coffee House has built a strong and scalable operating model supported by high-quality production and distribution infrastructure. Chris and Stephen have created an impressive business with significant growth potential, and we are pleased to support the next phase of expansion.”

Behind its growing store estate is Coffee House’s Warrington production and distribution hub, where the business roasts its own coffee, produces much of its food and bakery range, and manages logistics across the group. The vertically integrated model allows Coffee House to maintain quality and consistency as it expands.
