TV chef Matt Tebbutt has teamed up with award-winning London bakery, Sourdough Sophia, to create the ultimate Christmas sandwich to celebrate 500 years since turkeys first arrived in the UK. Inspired by the ingredients of a traditional Christmas dinner, Matt and Sophia have combined classic festive flavours with a few unexpected ingredients to create a new take on a Christmas leftovers sandwich, available from mid-November.

At the heart of the sandwich is succulent slices of British turkey, paired with pigs in blankets, a cranberry kraut, cabbage with crispy bacon pieces, a handful of rocket, and finished with a punchy jalapeño and sage mayonnaise. The ingredients are all layered between two slices of Sourdough Sohpia’s renowned N8 sourdough bread, creating a festive feast in every bite.

The sandwich collaboration between Sourdough Sophia and Matt Tebbutt forms part of a wider campaign celebrating 500 years since turkey arrived in the UK, with a collection of British turkey farmers coming together to mark the milestone. Matt has joined the campaign to showcase just how easy it can be to cook a whole bird at home, while championing the value of cooking a whole turkey by making the most of leftovers. With plenty of delicious possibilities, Matt and Sophia’s sandwich offers the perfect inspiration for turning leftover turkey into a standout Boxing Day meal.

Available from mid-November, and priced at £9.60, Matt Tebbutt and Sourdough Sophia’s Christmas sandwich will be served across six of the bakery’s London locations including Crouch End, Highgate, Essex Road, Hampstead, Covent Garden, and Primrose Hill.

Matt and Sophia’s creation is a delicious reminder of why turkey remains a Christmas favourite, so be sure to try it while it’s on the menu.
