The official countdown has begun to Manchester City Council local elections on Thursday 2 May
In total 33 elected member places on the Council will be contested – one in each of the city’s 32 wards (representing one third of the council) plus an additional vacancy in Fallowfield ward where a sitting councillor has stepped down.
Voters are being urged to make sure they are registered so they can have their democratic say.
People will not be able to vote in local elections unless they have registered to vote by Friday 12 April.
Anyone who is on the electoral register can also choose to register to vote by post. Applications for a postal vote in the forthcoming local elections must be received by 5pm on Monday 15 April.
A full list of candidates will be published on Thursday 4 April. The count and declaration of results for the local election results will take place the day after polling day, on Friday 3 May.
