MEZCALITO EXPORTS ITS WINNING COMBO OF TACOS, TEQUILA & MEZCAL NORTH OF THE BORDER!

Mezcalito opened in Chelsea back in 2018 with one aim: to become London’s go-to Mexican restaurant.

Four years later, it has done just that, thanks to its winning combination of tequila, tacos and downright good fun. (If you don’t want to take our word for it, ask Breaking Bad legend Bryan Cranston!). Now it’s taking the next step with the launch of an equally irresistible sibling, this time in the heart of Islington.

Opening on 1st June, and once more showcasing the best that Mexican hospitality has to offer, Mezcalito Islington replicates the charm and vibrancy of the original, as well as transporting its guests to exotic, sun-kissed climes. No passport required.

Getting this medley of authentic dishes off to a fine start is a selection of irresistible starters and small plates. Perfect for grazing or sharing with friends, these range from elote (corn on the cob Mexican style, coated with zingy Tajin chilli and grated parmesan) and calmares through to nachos, a bed of corn tortilla chips, smothered with homemade frijoles, paprika nacho cheese, sour cream and roasted salsa de la casa.

Onto the main event and Mezcalito offers a superb line-up of classic tortillas and quesadillas, both with an array of irresistible fillings.
And should there be any room left, how about finishing off with a quartet of fabulous, chocolate-filled churros?

Washing this down is an impressive collection of over 250 agave spirits, well-known brands, limited releases, hard-to-find bottles and vintage editions alike. In fact, Mezcalito is reputed to have the second largest selection in the UK, just behind Annabel’s which, as a private member’s club, is not open to the public.

Meanwhile, Mezcalito’s fantastic team of mixologists invite you to take a trip through Mexico, one cocktail at a time. On this specially curated list, are tequila- and mezcal- based drinks inspired by ten of the nation’s top holiday destinations, made with ingredients from each region. This menu is interactive; each cocktail has its own QR code which when scanned, sends a video of the destination to the user’s phone. Meanwhile for a pre-departure drink, you can take your pick from one of Mezcalito’s legendary house cocktails, spearheaded of course by its Margarita de la Casa.

From 7th June, and every Tuesday thereafter, Mezcalito Islington will be serving up unlimited tacos – its famous soft corn tortillas packed with beef, chicken or pulled pork – accompanied by two-for-one frozen margaritas. All night long. And the price per head of this generosity? Just £25.
Last but by no means least, Islington will offer the same exemplary service that Chelsea regulars have come to know and love. After all, InterNations did recently name Mexico as one of the top three most welcoming countries in the world!
Mezcalito Islington will open Tuesday through Sunday, from 5pm to 12.30am.
