Manchester Giants odds leaders to sign Harry Kane as 2022 World Cup looms large
The bookmakers suggest Manchester is indeed the most likely destination for Harry Kane this summer if he leaves Tottenham Hotspur, with giants City and United the favourites to land his signature.
Rumours regarding Kane’s club future have gone into overdrive since reports first emerged that the England captain has grown frustrated with the lack of major silverware in north London.
Kane—who turns 28 in July—has never won a major trophy for club nor country, though he has lifted the Premier League’s Golden Boot award on three occasions. The most recent of those came in the season just gone, where he bagged 23 times in England’s top flight, registering an impressive 33 goals in all competitions, the third-highest-scoring campaign of his career to date.
Manchester-TV reported in November that Premier League champions City already boasted the most expensive squad of any among Europe’s top five leagues. However, they may need to double down on that status and spend a nine-figure sum if they’re to land Kane, who’s a 6/4 betting favourite to head to the Etihad Stadium in the event he leaves Spurs.
Moreover, Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for a Sergio Aguero replacement this summer after the club’s all-time record scorer departed for Barcelona, ending his 10-year stay in Manchester.
As well as wanting to advance his club prospects, Kane will have one eye on next year’s World Cup in Qatar, at which point he’ll be expected to be in his playing prime.
The Three Lions look favourable in 2022 World Cup betting promo odds as things stand, currently top of their qualifying group and having won three games from three, with Kane the only player to score more than once in the process.
Spurs’ star man is clearly motivated to do well in Qatar, too, considering he told CNN way back in 2015 that the winter timing of next year’s World Cup could work to the advantage of the players:
“I think we will be a lot fitter at that time of year compared to the end of a long season.
“It could be beneficial for us. It will be another experience, something new, and it will be something to look forward to.”
City may be the favourites to sign Tottenham’s talisman, but 3/1 Manchester United could be the more valuable betting selection after they finished second in the Premier League last season. While the Citizens won a domestic double and finished as runners-up to Chelsea in the Champions League final, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks like he’s paving the way to potential success at Old Trafford.
Kane also recently told former United defender Gary Neville that Red Devils legend David Beckham was his icon growing up, hinting at further ties with United:
“Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“To take those corners!” ⛳️

The forward is contracted at Tottenham until 2024, but the odds on Kane to leave the club in the foreseeable future seems a safer bet as things stand.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are among the bookmakers’ big betting picks to sign Kane should he move abroad, though it’s understood his first priority is to remain in the Premier League.
