Life with Emotions: A Special Screening at Parkinson’s UK Headquarters

Parkinson’s UK is proud to host an exclusive screening of Living with Emotions, a deeply moving short documentary produced by Shafin Basheer (Bangor University). The film follows acclaimed sculptor Nick Elphick as he channels his grief for his late father, who lived with Parkinson’s, into art.

Based in Llandudno, Nick Elphick is one of Wales’s most accomplished sculptors, with a career that includes work with Damien Hirst, Ryan Gander, Jean-Paul Gaultier, the Cartier Gallery, HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, and Motörhead’s Lemmy. His work has been featured on BBC One’s Extraordinary Portraits (he is currently filming for the next series) and on Sky/Discovery’s Salvage Hunters: The Restorers. He is currently working on a large public commission of Monty Python’s Terry Jones in collaboration with the remaining Python members and the Jones family.

Life with Emotions is more than a film about an artist – it is a story of grief, resilience, and the healing power of creativity. By sculpting his father’s likeness, Nick transforms personal loss into art, offering an honest and moving reflection on memory, love, and renewal.

For Parkinson’s UK, the screening is an opportunity to amplify conversations about how Parkinson’s affects families, while celebrating the strength and creativity that can emerge even in the most difficult of circumstances. Hosting this screening underscores the charity’s commitment to connection, creativity, and community.
