New research reveals Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ album cover is the most searched of 2021, according to Google data.

The study by creative resource Design Bundles looked at the global search volume for every number one album of this year to establish which album cover was the most popular.

Kanye West’s album cover for ‘Donda’ ranked number one, after receiving an annual search total of 27,600 across the world. Released in August, this album made ‘Donda’ Kanye’s tenth studio album, containing 27 tracks. The searches are expected to be so high due to no art displayed on the streaming platforms at the release time.

Olivia Rodrigo with the ‘Sour’ album cover had 22,800 annual searches, making this record the second most popular cover art of 2021, after being released in May of this year. The cover pictures Olivia with several stickers on her face with a purple backdrop. Olivia’s music went viral on TikTok with the hit song ‘Driver’s License’ which was released at the beginning of 2021.

Third place totalling 9,600 annual searches is ‘Evermore’ by Taylor Swift. Released December 2020, this woodland cover art, displaying the back of Taylor’s head with her hair in a french plait, has captured many eyes across the world. Taylor has since released ‘Taylor’s Versions’ of Fearless in April and Red this past November.

Billie Eilish ranks fourth with the ‘Happier Than Ever’ album cover, receiving 4,800 Google searches for this timeless image. Billie rose to fame in 2015 and after being recognised for the hit single ‘Ocean Eyes’, Billie became the youngest person to win a Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’.

Michael Bublé’s ‘Christmas’ album cover was the fifth highest searched album of the year, gaining a total of 1,800 searches. The well-loved Jazz & Soul singer, famous for his Christmas covers, released the album ten years ago to critical and commercial success.

Sixth is Slowthai with the ‘TYRON’ album cover, the simplistic cover art of him by a tree totalled 1,080 searches. This album was the British rapper’s second studio album, released in February of this year.

The alternative rock band, Wolf Alice takes seventh with their album cover ‘Blue Weekend’, receiving 360 searches this year. Whilst The Killers with ‘Pressure Machine’ takes eighth with 240 total searches of the album cover.
