How to make your garden fit for a King’s Coronation

Experts at Gtech have revealed five last-minute tips to get your garden ready for a King’s Coronation party next weekend.

Families and friends up and down the country will be holding garden parties to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and his wife Camilla next Saturday.

However, if your garden is looking less than party perfect, Gtech owner and gardening enthusiast Nick Grey has come up with some simple tasks which can make a big impact.

“The first thing to do is remove any clutter or junk – a trip to the tip is very cathartic and clearing out junk is like clearing your mind,” says Nick.

“Then have a look around, mow and edge the lawn, trim any hedges, and sweep any leaves or winter debris. Mowing the lawn will instantly make your garden feel fresh and appealing.

“Next arrange some seating. Depending on how many people are coming you may want to create two or more areas of cosy seating with tables for drinks.”

Nick says to consider adding some colourful plants to your borders – perhaps red, white and blue.

“Select a colour scheme and then pop to you garden centre and choose some bedding plants. Blocks of colour are much more appealing than individual plants so get a couple of trays and position them around the seats.

“Then add some lighting; these days outdoor lighting is cheap and accessible. At this time of year, it is quite dark by 9pm so some hang some fairy lights to create a special ambience,” says Nick.

“And don’t forget a patio heater – you don’t want your guests shivering after sundown.”

He adds: “Just a couple of hours work will get your garden in good shape for a Coronation party – and for the rest of the summer.”

Gtech’s top five tips for a garden fit for a King:
