GODMANCHESTER TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB SCORE SPONSORSHIP FROM BARRATT HOMES

Barratt Homes is assisting Godmanchester Town FC’s Under-9s this season with a sponsorship that will provide the team with a brand new kit.

The team, which is based nearby the developer’s Romans’ Edge development, have now been together for over two years and play their matches on a Saturday. Last season the team suffered many stops and starts due to the pandemic, but have been enjoying playing regularly again this season.

Paul Long, Manager of Godmanchester Town FC Under-9s, said: “We are so grateful to Barratt Homes for the sponsorship this season. It’s fantastic to be supported by a local business, especially as our home ground is next to the new Romans’ Edge development.

“It makes such a difference for the boys to have a new home kit this season so that they feel like a team. We have a few new players this year and with the step-up to playing 7v7 it’s great for all the boys to be wearing matching kits. They look so smart and really professional.

“It’s great to see businesses supporting the local community. Without the support of the community, many businesses wouldn’t survive and it is important that a business recognises this and gives something back. We believe there’s no better way than by helping the children of that community to enjoy the sport they love.”

The team is made up of players aged from seven to nine, and play their matches in the local Hunts FA League.

Daniel Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support Godmanchester Town Football Club.

“As a leading developer it is very important for us to engage with the local community as best we can so that they can thrive.
“We hope the children enjoy their new kit, and we look forward to hearing about their future successes.”

Romans’ Edge provides residents with a perfect combination of town and country living. It is surrounded by countryside and is less than three miles from the nearby market town of Huntingdon.
