Fletchers Solicitors go the distance for Office-to-Office Challenge

Fletchers Solicitors have put in some serious mileage for their latest charity pledge, raising almost £3000 for three worthwhile causes with an ‘Office-to-Office Challenge.’

Staff at the Manchester-based legal firm were encouraged to set personal exercise goals for July, using the 37.4-mile distance between their city-centre office in St James’ Tower and their Southport base as inspiration. The medical negligence and personal injury firm opened its Manchester office in February 2017, having expanded their team in recent years.

Some chose to walk, run or cycle the 37.4 miles, while others chose to double their efforts – completing the challenge over 74.8 miles. Some made a pledge to complete 12 hours 20 minutes of exercise during the month – the time it would take to walk between the two offices.

Over the course of July, the team travelled over 1800 miles, and completed over 550 hours of exercise – the equivalent of travelling between the two offices 93 times!

This latest event follows the success of their ’30 for 30 Challenge’ at the start of the year, in which Fletchers’ employees completed 30 minutes of exercise each day for 30 days in return for sponsorship.

The funds raised from the events were donated to the firm’s Charity of the Year charities: Queenscourt Hospice, Joining Jack and Cancer Research UK.

Marketing and Communications Executive, Jonathan Maley commented:

“The challenge was brilliant and kept me on my toes the whole month. Normally, you say to yourself, ‘I’ll go the gym tomorrow’ but knowing you had a set goal each day helped with maintaining my focus. Office to Office helped me feel better in myself, too. Each time I completed a daily workout I felt much more positive.”

CSR Manager, Marie Steele added:

“It’s been fantastic to see the efforts that team members have made to challenge themselves and encourage each other while raising money for their elected charities. Many charities’ incomes have suffered due to Covid so we’re happy to help and will continue to do so.”
