A Salford opticians has raised £700 for a children’s autism charity thanks to the success of a Christmas raffle.
Eyeline Opticians in Salford Shopping Centre held the raffle prior to the Christmas break, raising valuable funds for neighbours The A World UK. The Community Interest Company (CIC) has a shop near the opticians within the shopping centre and is a cause close to the company’s heart as one of the team has an autistic daughter supported by the charity.
Optometrist Ismail Bobat said the team was keen to show their support for their work by putting on a festive fundraiser.
He added: “The charity does an amazing job supporting families with autism and we wanted to pass on our gratitude for everything they have done for a member of our team. The raffle saw us put together various hampers, containing everything from sunglasses, toiletries and food and drink, and it proved really popular.
“We managed to sell plenty of tickets and the winners were over the moon with their prize so everyone has benefited. It’s nice to be able to give a bit back at Christmas and we know this donation is going to make a real difference.”
The A World UK is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the autistic community across England and Wales. The charity is proud to be the world’s first organisation to exclusively hire popular attractions for the autistic community.
Their approach ensures that families can explore freely, without judgement or barriers, in a truly inclusive environment. The team help to remove barriers, build confidence, and create lifelong memories for people of all ages.
It was Eyeline’s first fundraiser for several years and the team are keen to follow it up with further charity money-spinners in the future.
