Experts predict 2021 staycation trends
With holidays abroad largely being put on the backburner for 2020, it’s no surprise that it’s been coined ‘The Year of the Staycation’* as millions of Brits decided to holiday closer to home. As the year comes to a close, the last-minute UK accommodation site, Snaptrip, reports a 33% increase in bookings compared to last year – despite restrictions.
The 2020 trends data also ranks the most popular staycation spots of the year and reveals the increase of bookings compared to last year. So, if you’re looking for some 2021 holiday inspo within the UK, look no further:
Top UK destinations in 2020
1.West Sussex – 87% increase
2. Cambridgeshire – 61% increase
3. Lancashire – 60% increase
4. Kent – 59% increase
5. Cheshire – 58% increase
West Sussex took the top spot as the most popular staycation destination in the UK this year with a huge 87% rise in bookings compared to 2019.
