89% of the UK spent lockdown watching TV & Film
With lockdown leaving many of us stuck indoors our entertainment outlets became a major part of a new lifestyle habits. The Body Shop looked into our habits during and after lockdown to analyse what had changed in detail.
The survey commissioned by The Body Shop revealed:
Results show that most spare time was spent watching TV or streaming shows and films – 89% of the population engaged in watching TV in the UK during lockdown
92 more minutes were spent per month during lockdown on watching TV or Film per person
An extra 46 minutes per month on average for videogames – with 47% of the population spending some time gaming during lockdown
With the population spending more time at home, the survey also reveals how this time has been used.
Respondents shared their monthly expenditure on hobbies such as painting, playing instruments, writing and listening to music to name a few.
Results show that most spare time was spent watching TV or streaming shows and films. This was closely followed by gardening, with an 84-minute increase monthly in time spent in UK gardens. Gardening also had the largest increase in spending across all hobbies, with an average increase of £5.69 per person per month.
Other popular pastimes such as reading and playing videogames also see big increases in time spent, with reading having an average 63 minutes more time spent per month than before lockdown, and an extra 46 minutes per month on average for videogames.
