Wythenshawe Forum to host free speed networking event aimed at building healthier, active communities
A free speed networking event aiming to help residents stay active and healthy will be hosted at the Forum Centre, Wythenshawe on Wednesday, 8 October.
The event will take place at the leisure centre, which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Wythenshawe Forum Trust, from 11am to 2pm.
Designed to bring together local organisations, groups and partners who share a commitment to supporting residents to be more active and engaged in their community, the fast-paced networking session will give visitors the opportunity to connect quickly and spark collaborations.
Fitness providers, healthcare professionals and volunteers are all encouraged to attend from 11am-12 noon. Doors will open to residents from 12 noon-2pm, when they will be offered the opportunity to meet local organisations and services available to them to get moving more.
Organisations attending on the day include Manchester Libraries, community engagement charity Redeeming Our Communities (ROC), MCRactive, Manchester Airport, Department for Work and Pensions, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust – plus other local groups.
Daniel Nowak, Everyone Active’s general manager, said: “We know that staying active and healthy is easier when organisations work together, and this event is all about breaking down barriers, building stronger relationships and finding creative ways to help residents in Wythenshawe live healthier lives.
“The event will be held in a supportive, energetic environment and we encourage anybody who is thinking of joining us to come along. We are thoroughly looking forward to welcoming visitors and offering information about free and low-cost physical activities available locally for all ages and abilities.”
