With One In Five Brits Starting a Side Hustle Since March 2020 New Guide Shares How To Do It Well

Perfectly capturing the zeitgeist, author Sarah Wilson not only shares how to get a side-hustle off the ground, but brings together the stories of thirty side-hustlers willing to reveal the ups and downs of their business journey, and why they wouldn’t change things for the world.

Informative, inspirational and full of practical top tips, the author also reiterates that it’s not all about making money and that life’s other responsibilities also need to be factored into any business plans.

And, talking from experience, the author explains how a side-hustle doesn’t necessarily have to involve a personal passion, but once up and running the passion can then become running a successful business.

With Aviva Insurance’s recent survey* on the subject confirming an average side-hustle income at £497 per month and 16% claiming to earn more than £1,000 a month, this way of doing business shows no signs of abatement. Investing in Sarah Wilson’s book could be one of your most financially savvy decisions ever.

About the author:

Sarah Wilson says: “I’ve had my own side hustles, whilst on maternity leave with my daughter, I set up an ice lolly business as a side hustle to my day job working in local government. It wasn’t my passion, but I became passionate about it being my business. I had the idea whilst blending and freezing fruit and veg for my daughter during weaning and spotted a gap in the market for fruit & veg ice lollies (doesn’t sound appealing, I know, but the carrot & ginger and beetroot & pineapple were delicious!).

“Like many people I had to stop production in 2020 due to the pandemic, then I had my second child and during this maternity leave I set up my money coaching business and wrote this book. Working as a money coach I support women to transform their relationship with money, be in control of their finances, helping them to earn more, save more and achieve their money goals.

“I am passionate about helping women improve their relationships with money, and supporting women looking for a side hustle. I help work out if a side hustle is suitable and will fit in with someone’s life, not just focusing on the good bits, but exploring the realities of having a side hustle. I wrote this book as often when money is discussed, people want to know how to make more, there are of course various obvious ways, increase current income through a pay rise or promotion, change career or simply cut back. So I wanted to explore more about making additional income as well as finding something with purpose that gives you energy and motivates you.

“I met amazing women whilst attending networking events and realised how many people currently had side hustles, or they had grown their main business from a side hustle. So I wanted to capture their stories about the realities of having a side hustle to inspire other women who were thinking about pursuing one.

I’ve not followed a traditional career path instead working in various roles including a mortgage advisor, local government officer and working abroad for 5 years as a holiday rep. I also didn’t go to university until I was 26, where I developed a thirst for knowledge so after completing my undergraduate then a PGCE in Teaching, I went on to complete an MSc in business management before achieving a distinction in my MBA which I finished whilst on maternity leave (just before setting up the ice lolly business).”
