Where to find the world’s LARGEST suspended looping coaster – it’s in the UK!
Thrill-seekers across the country were shocked on Wednesday morning, as Alton Towers revealed popular ride Nemesis is to be temporarily closed until 2024.
The inverted rollercoaster is a huge favourite with theme park fans, however, rollercoaster enthusiasts need not worry, as the world’s largest Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC) can be found in the UK at Fantasy Island theme park, Lincolnshire.
The Odyssey, which opened in 2002, is not only the world’s largest SLC, but the UK’s largest inverted rollercoaster – meaning thrill-seekers can still get their adrenaline fix despite the closure of Nemesis.
The rollercoaster reaches heights of 167ft tall, featuring a frightful 141ft drop and hitting top speeds of 63mph, giving riders 2 minutes and 52 seconds of pure adulation.
Paige Harris, Head of Marketing at Fantasy Island, said: “We are proud to be home to the world’s largest SLC rollercoaster. The Odyssey is a firm favourite with visitors to Fantasy Island and it can definitely fill the void for thrill-seekers whilst Nemesis is closed”.
