Victoria Baths reveals new seasonal programme
Victoria Baths is launching its autumn season with a line up that includes exciting new events, firm favourites that we haven’t seen for a while and plenty of family friendly fun. It’s a varied programme that, as a unique heritage venue and Manchester cultural gem, sees Victoria Bath’s creative inspiration shining through.

Drop, Drop will create a sensory explosion in which the audience are enveloped in a pool of sound that brings together Kantos Choir and music that features the work of Palestrina, Walton, Whitacre, Gibbons, Mealor, Hidegard von Bingen and new music composed especially for the occasion by Shruthi Rajasekar. Taking place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September it features an exciting array of art exhibitions, photography workshops, children’s discovery and play activities, wellbeing sessions, food stalls and guided tours. Alongside this community organisations will be arranging pop-up activities and stalls. Victoria Bath’s Stained Glass Group will have an open drop in session all about the stained glass that the building is so famous for. There will be a rare chance to see, and handle, some items from the history archive, as well as discover local history groups and other heritage organisations. This stellar event, which is nationally renowned, will feature over 150 makers selected by a panel of experts to represent the very best in ceramics, textiles, metalwork, mixed media and so much more. This much-loved Victoria Baths regular hasn’t been held live in Manchester since 2019 and is an absolute beacon for anyone seeking midcentury household classics. Brimming with epic design pieces from the 1930s to 1970s, iconic brands, furniture and accessories are all part of the mix. Tickets are £4 (£6 for early entry) with all the booking details here.

Whether you are keeping it small and select or wanting to max it out, for those that want gorgeous products and impeccable service, but also care about the planet, The Ethical Wedding Show is unmissable. Taking place on Sunday 24 October it will feature suppliers handpicked for their ethical credentials on issues such as plastic waste, vegan values, recycling or upcycling creativity and carbon footprint. And finally, a date to look forward to for those who like to give their nearest and dearest a thoughtful Christmas gift created by an independent local maker or artist. Always popular, this year’s Festive Winter Fair will take place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November. The full plans are under wraps at the moment, but some festive twists are expected and a flourish of Santa’s magic throughout. A regular event to look out for is the Victoria Baths Guided Building Tour; the best way to discover everything that the building has to offer, including the pools, Turkish Baths and Superintendent’s Flat, and the stories that it holds. These will feature throughout autumn 2021, with dates being added throughout the season. Already released are Wednesday 15 September and Wednesday 22 September.
