UNBELIEVABLE JEFF! CHRIS KAMARA SHOCK FAVOURITE TO REPLACE JEFF STELLING AS SOCCER SATURDAY HOST
After Jeff Stelling’s shock announcement that he’s leaving the Soccer Saturday hot seat after 25 years, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power reveals who could be next in line to the Sky Sports throne.
Chris Kamara enters the fray as shock favourite (10/1) to replace Stelling, followed closely by Julian Warren (11/1), with Saturday Social guest contributor and online personality, Chunkz close behind at 12/1.
Former Arsenal ace Ian could be the Wright man for the job at 33/1, racing ahead of fellow MOTD pundit Jermaine Jenas (40/1) and Liverpool legend John Barnes (66/1).
Two men who have recently received a P45 from ITV that may back themselves for a transfer to the big leagues include Arsenal’s twitter fanboy Piers Morgan (33/1) and Simon Cowell (50/1) – who’s track record of getting boy bands together could alleviate the stress of replacing Jeff, Thommo and the lads.
Alternatively, some believe Jeff’s departure hangs in the balance with a dramatic U-turn supposedly on the cards and a prolonged stay with Sky rated at 3/1.
The broadcasting veteran is equally fancied to follow in the ‘quick steps’ of presenter Dan Walker as a Strictly Come Dancing contestant.
Sticking to what he knows, he may fancy his hand at Match of the Day (14/1) or even taking over from Mr. Lineker on BT Sport (6/4).
Jeff may well opt to switch a 90-minute clock for a 30 second timer and return to present Countdown (2/1).
Spokesperson Paddy Power said: “The transfer window may be closed but this saga looks set to rumble on for a few weeks as the race to host Soccer Saturday hots up.
“Kammy is adored by huge swathes of the show’s fanbase and is the dark horse of the bunch to make a ‘unbelievable’ switch to become the face of the show.
“Who knows what’ll happen next, but one thing is for sure, we’d love to see that trademark ‘tache back on our screens!”
