Two-thirds of Gen Z want Taylor Swift banned from nightclubs!

Two-thirds of Gen Z have opted to ban Taylor Swift from nightclubs as young people say no to Swiftogeddon and yes to Swifto-forget-on! According to new research.
The research, commissioned to celebrate ‘Get Britain Dancing!’ – a nationwide night out this Friday – discovered that hits such as Shake it Off by Taylor Swift have had their time in the spotlight and now, young people have had enough.
Despite worldwide stadium sell out tours, countless no.1 hits, the majority of young people don’t want to go out and sing and dance to Swift’s singles anymore as Gen Z label 50 Cent’s In Da Club as their favourite club anthem (71%).
This is closely followed by noughties anthems We Found Love by Rihanna and Calvin Harris (57%) and I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyes Peas (48%), showing the younger generation still have a taste for the anthems they grew up to over what’s currently in the charts.
As a nation, Mamma Mia is the firm favourite (59%) to sing along to at your favourite nightclub, leaving dancefloor fillers, Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling (50%) and David Guetta’s Titanium (44%), in the dust.
Furthermore, the nightclub experts at Stonegate Group have also discovered that Adele is the number one celeb Brits would most like to go a night out with (54%).
Famous for heartbreaking songs, her sense of humour and for enjoying the odd glass of wine, it’s no surprise to see Brits flock to national icon, Adele, as the go-to celeb for a night out in town.
Following the singer, Idris Elba (41%) David Beckham (37%), David Attenborough (27%) and Alison Hammond (26%) comprise the rest of the top five with some surprise additions to the top ten include the likes of money saving expert Martin Lewis (29%), showing Brits really will go on a night out with anyone.
But the nation’s love of a night out doesn’t just revolve around dancing to their favourite songs, one in ten (10%) Brits actually had their first kiss on a night out.
This data comes as one in three (33%) now experience love at first sight by meeting a former or current partner in a club for the very first time, showing just how important a part nightclubs play in love stories across the UK.
The survey also discovered that the benefits of a great night out go further than just the night itself with Brits feeling the buzz for days after as three-quarters (74%) of Brits say their mood is improved after a night out with their mates.
David McDowall, CEO of Stonegate Group, said: “At Stonegate, we’re all about good times and great company. Whether it’s hitting the dancefloor, enjoying great music, or just having a laugh with friends, we want our venues to be the place where people come together and enjoy themselves.
