Ranking at number two with 7.9 million views is the ‘Paper Clip Flashcard Hack’ as shown by @sage.studies. This involves using paperclips to slot relevant notes and flashcards in between a revision notebook using its binder. This allows for easier access to a condensed set of notes, while also making the learning more visual and therefore easier to memorize. Flashcards have ranked highly in other popular videos on TikTok, notably gaining 580.1K views in @studymatic’s video. @studymatic suggests placing exam questions at the front of the flashcards and the answers on the back in order to really test yourself.

Blurting Method – 1.8 million views
In third place is the ‘Blurting Method’, gaining 1.8 Million views on @studyhelp10’s TikTok and 1.4 Million views on @unjadedjade’s TikTok account. The blurting method is a way to recall content from memory by writing as much down as you can about a particular topic without looking at notes. Once that is done you may look back at your notes and ‘fill in the gaps’ to see what you are unable to remember. This is otherwise known as ‘active recall’, which is particularly helpful for revision the night before an exam.

This is a way to break down your revision into shorter bursts of focus, by working for 25 minutes without a distraction and then taking a 5 minute rest. Speed Reading is a technique that can be improved over time through consistent reading of texts, while also teaching yourself to ‘skip’ words from the first and last lines without it impacting how much you understand. This is due to your peripheral vision processing the words that you skipped.

Methodology:
Experts at Revision Centre sought to determine the most viewed learning hack videos on TikTok videos using hashtag search terms related to revision including: ‘study’, ‘revision’, ‘studytok’, ‘study tips’ and ‘revision hacks’
The videos that appeared on TikTok through these searches were then ranked according to highest number of likes, and categorized based on the key-words searched.
The different videos were compared to see if there were any repeated study techniques or hacks, and then a list was created of the ‘Most Viewed’ revision techniques on TikTok. The TikTok videos were then ranked in accordance with number of views.
Revision Centre also compiled a list of notable study apps mentioned in the highest viewed study-related TikTok videos and are relevant to this research.
