The 15 most resold furniture brands on eBay, and tips on finding bargains

In the past year, many of us have looked for new and innovative ways of reinventing our homes. A recent study by Hometree.co.uk revealed timber floors and roll top baths as some of the 16 period features making a comeback in 2021, showing us that ‘old’ doesn’t always mean out of style.

And it isn’t just styling features – Global searches for ‘secondhand furniture buyers near me’ increased by 70%* in the last week alone, as we look to save money and resources whilst redecorating.

But which brands are we most drawn to when buying secondhand? Curious to answer this question, furniture experts at Furniture Disposal London scraped all furniture listings on eBay.co.uk and can now reveal all.

IKEA is the most resold furniture brand

IKEA is the most popular furniture brand on eBay with a staggering 1,897 secondhand pieces listed on the site.

Averaging £85.37 per item, it is one of the cheapest brands to buy secondhand as well. The cheapest items resold from IKEA are chest of drawers (average price of £52.28) and home office desks (average price of £58.03).

In second place is John Lewis, with 982 items listed on eBay. Averaging a price of £201.93, it is one of the more expensive furniture brands popular for resale. The cheapest items of furniture resold from John Lewis are home office desks, averaging a price of £52.38.

Following in third is another high-street giant – Next with 875 pieces of secondhand furniture listed online. The cheapest resold piece of furniture from Next are chairs, averaging a price of £65.45, nearly £400 below the average price.

Argos claims fourth place with 554 listings of used furniture. The cheapest piece of furniture resold from Argos is their TV stands and entertainment units, at £25.80. Overall, Argos is the fifth cheapest for secondhand furniture on eBay, with an average price of £64.95.

The fifth most commonly listed furniture brand on eBay is Marks and Spencer, with 325 listings. Selling a broad range of furniture such as wardrobes, cabinets and chests of drawers, it is no wonder we see them place in the top ten.

Which brands are the cheapest and priciest when resold?
Wickes tops the list as the cheapest secondhand furniture on eBay, with an average price of £42.78 per item. Jay-Be follows behind as the second cheapest with an average price of £59.03.

At the other end of the scale, is Herman Miller – averaging £1,324 per furniture item listed on eBay. Home office desks, cabinets and cupboards and chairs are listed for an average of over £1,000 on the resale site, with chests of drawers averaging £2,673.
