STOCKPORT HOMELESS CHARITY BACKED BY MANCHESTER AMAZON TEAM

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Manchester has made a £1,000 donation to a Stockport resource centre.

The Wellspring supports the people of Stockport that are homeless or at risk of losing their home. The Wellspring provides the resources, understanding, and care that they need inside the community that we all share. The professional staff and dedicated volunteers are there to understand the complex and individual challenges of every service user and help them make positive changes to their lives.
The Wellspring responds to a combination of issues surrounding housing, physical & mental health, domestic violence, substance misuse, debt, unemployment, illiteracy, and social exclusion.
The donation from Amazon in Manchester will go towards the continuation of the charity’s food provision, which is provided 365 days per year. The funds will also help purchase mobile phones to ensure individuals can contact and are contactable to other agencies.
Ian Jackson, Site Leader at Amazon in Manchester, said:

“The Wellspring is a lifeline to many people who find themselves in the situation of needing support to avoid becoming homeless or find their way back into accommodation. It’s great to lend a helping hand to the wonderful staff and volunteers with this donation.”

Alex Knight, Manager from The Wellspring, said:

“Thanks to Ian and everyone at Amazon in Manchester for this donation. We are dependent on donations to keep our services going, so this gesture is very much welcomed by everyone here.”

The donation to The Wellspring was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
