Stay Gas Safe in Staffordshire with these 6 Tips this Gas Safety Week

This week marks the 13th year of Gas Safety Week (11 – 17 September 2023), when Gas Safety experts around the UK work together to raise awareness about the importance of Gas Safety.

Regular maintenance of all Gas Appliances is vital to keep you and your family safe and reduce the risk of gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Staffords Local Gas Safe Registered, Plumbing and Heating Company, PlumbGas, are reminding Staffordshire residents of how to stay Gas Safe with these helpful tips:

Be aware of the symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, including headaches, nausea, dizziness, collapse, breathlessness and loss of consciousness.

Watch out for warning signs your appliance may be unsafe. Yellow flames instead of blue, error messages, unusual boiler noises or soot-like stains around your appliance.

Vents must be clear of blockages and obstructions to ensure your boiler works safely and efficiently.

Smell Gas or suspect a gas leak? Don’t wait; call the free 24-hour national gas emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999.

Always seek help from a qualified Gas Safe Registered Engineer for any issues or concerns with an appliance.

Only use engineers on the Gas Safe Register, and always ask to see your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card. Make sure you check the back of the card, which will state which gas appliances they are qualified to work on.

Jon Bryan, Owner and Head Engineer at PlumbGas, says, ‘ Awareness of how to stay Gas-safe and reminding the public to never attempt any DIY on a Gas appliance is vitally important. All of our engineers are Gas Safe Registered and have their Gas Safe ID cards ready to reassure our customers, and we are on hand to answer any questions or concerns local Staffordshire residents might have about their Gas appliance safety.’

Anyone needing to book their annual boiler service can call the friendly PlumbGas team to arrange for a Gas Safe engineer to carry out the service for only £75. Alternatively, they offer a range of fantastic Home Care Plans with additional benefits to give homeowners peace of mind, from as little as £16 per month.
