Star of Tyler Perry’s THE OVAL, Brad Benedict Joins SHARK WEEK 2021
Known for his role as Kyle Flint in the Tyler Perry/BET political drama series THE OVAL (Tuesdays 9/8c), Brad Benedict is set for a banner year. Up next for Brad is the premiere of Discovery Channel’s first-ever shark competitive docu-series, SHARK ACADEMY (airing during Shark Week, starting July 11th, 2021). Brad is also known for his roles on Tyler Perry/TLC’s first scripted series “Too Close to Home,” the drama, thriller BROKEN HALOS and romcom LOVE ON THE RISE, NCIS and GLEE.
In February 2021, a week after “The Oval” premiered its second season on BET drawing in 1.4 million viewers, the drama series was renewed for a third. Written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry, “The Oval” is a political drama series that tells the story of U.S President Hunter Franklin (Ed Quinn) and first lady Victoria Franklin (Kron Moore), a power-hungry interracial couple, who present a perfect facade to the world while indulging in wildly scandalous behavior behind closed doors. Not to be outdone, their children – Gayle (Paige Hurd) and Jason (Daniel Croix) — bring their own brands of volatility and excess to the Executive Residence. The soap opera-style series also tells the stories of White House staff members whose lives become intertwined with those of the first family. Brad’s character, Kyle Flint is a secret service agent at the White House. He is an ex-Marine who is direct and unwavering. Season 2 dives deeper into the lives of these characters and keeps you guessing at every turn.
Still in the works Brad’s role in Tyler Perry’s new Netflix film JAZZMAN’S BLUES (set for a 2022 release date), a story that unravels forty years of secrets and lies in a tale of forbidden love and family drama. Perry penned the screenplay 26 years ago, the first one he’d ever written.
He caught the acting bug at the age of 3, when he realized he loved to entertain and be the center of attention. When he got to high school, he auditioned for the spring musical, singing the song Desperado, and booked the role of Bye Bye Birdie. He attended the University of Georgia, studying finance and playing for the tennis team. Upon graduation, he had a job lined up for him on Wall Street but decided to pursue a career in acting. Following his dreams didn’t come quick and easy as it took in 8 ½ years to booked his first series “Too Close to Home”.
When he’s not working, he enjoys being out in nature, playing the guitar, traveling and focusing on his health and wellness.
