STAFFORDSHIRE DEVELOPER HELPS NURSERY GIVE BIRDS THE SPECIAL ‘TWEETMENT’
Leading housebuilder Barratt Homes has donated some nest boxes to Shiny Stars Day Nursery in Trentham to help its children give nature a home as part of World Wildlife Day (Friday 3rd March).
The five-star developer gifted a pair of nest boxes for the school to install and use to educate its pupils on how best to support local wildlife.
World Wildlife Day is a United Nations campaign dedicated to celebrating all of the world’s wild animals and plants and the contribution that they make to our lives and the health of the planet.
The donation to the Staffordshire nursery also followed National Nest Box Week, which took place between the 14th and 21st February, and marks the beginning of the breeding season for birds. To assist this, the annual awareness week asks members of the public to set up nest boxes in their own gardens to provide a habitat for garden birds.
Bianca Johnson, Owner of Shiny Stars Day Nursery, said: “Thank you to Barratt Homes for this opportunity. The children and staff were overwhelmed to be able to extend the children’s learning about the birds and looking after our environment.”
Barratt Homes is committed to supporting wildlife on its developments and celebrating its national partnership with the RSPB to help give nature a home.
In doing so, the housebuilder’s collaboration with Shiny Stars Day Nursery has encouraged the younger children in the area to focus on providing homes for their feathered friends in the neighbourhood.
Michaela Lancaster, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “As a leading developer, it’s really important that we support the communities in the areas we build.
“Shiny Stars Day Nursery is working hard to support its children both in and out of the facility, and we are happy to provide a donation to help them continue their learning outdoors whilst benefiting local wildlife.”
Shiny Stars Day Nursery is located near the housebuilder’s Waterside development on Chessington Crescent, which currently offers a range of three and four bedroom properties for house hunters in Trentham.
