Specialist cleaning company re-accredited with UK’s leading compliance certification

COMMERCIAL cleaning specialists remain in elite company after successfully retaining the UK’s leading risk prevention and health and safety accreditation for businesses.

For the second year running, North-West based company Hy5 Commercial Cleaning has achieved specialist CHAS Elite status – the highest level of accreditation awarded by the country’s number one provider of compliance certification.

CHAS Elite provides accreditation to businesses across the UK to ensure compliance across a wide range of areas, including health and safety, risk management, supply chain management, insurance and finance.

To gain the coveted status, companies have to undergo a stringent audit process and prove they have adopted numerous policies to ensure all work carried out on behalf of clients is of the highest specification.

Included in the certification is the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) accreditation which recognises companies as going above and beyond the expected levels of health and safety protocols.

Anna Ellwood, Hy5’s General Manager, said: “There is a lot of work which goes on behind the scenes for the CHAS Elite application, but it is all worth it as it certifies us among the highest accredited companies in the UK.

“This accreditation is extremely important to us as it shows our clients and customers that we take the likes of health and safety and risk prevention very seriously, and that we can prove we are fully compliant to carry out the top end jobs we claim that we can.

“Having this certification is another string to our bow along with the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite (VHE) which we have to ensure we are one of a small handful of companies across the UK which can carry out cleaning of ventilation systems in commercial kitchens to the industry required TR19 standard.”

There are fears that many cleaning companies are unaware of the new requirements of the BESCA VHE specification, with inadequate cleaning of extraction systems in commercial kitchen settings heightening the risk of fire in these buildings.

Hy5 has recently launched an awareness campaign of the fire risks for businesses which have commercial kitchens, particularly schools and care homes in which there could be numerous vulnerable people trying to get out of the building at the same time.

The company has invested heavily to make sure it has all the certification it needs to meet all UK regulations, with the CHAS Elite and BESCA VHE key to upholding its national reputation.

Keith Simm, the Managing Director of Hy5, said: “We place great importance on ‘ticking all the boxes’ when it comes to being a fully compliant business because we understand that it gives our customers peace of mind and makes sure everything is fully covered in case anything should go wrong.”

Hy5 Commercial Cleaning is based in Ulverston, in Cumbria, but operates throughout the UK. To find out more, visit www.hy5cleaning.com.
