Social spaces and dedicated events programme key to combatting loneliness in big cities
Loneliness Awareness Week 2019, which runs from 17-21 June, is seeking to reduce the stigma of loneliness by getting people talking about it. Now in its third year, the campaign spearheaded by the Marmalade Trust has taken off rapidly, reaching more than 4 million people in 2018.
The big city lifestyle can be a lonely one at times, that’s why lifestyle-led rental homes brand Tipi, which provides hundreds of apartments in London’s Wembley Park, takes such a proactive approach to combatting loneliness.

One way that this happens is through regular events within each Tipi building. So far this year, Tipi has hosted 31 resident events, allocating over 124 staff hours to ensuring that these social occasions inspire residents to enjoy time together.

Together the social occasions have attracted more than 1,100 participants, with many residents attending multiple events.
