Told in relentless, lyrical verse, Romeo & Hamed is urgent, feral, sexy and unafraid. This new play explores family devotion, identity, religion and belonging, asking if we have the courage to love freely in a world that often refuses it.

Alongside its artistic ambition, Romeo & Hamed places accessibility and community
collaboration at the centre of its process. The production integrates creative captioning and has been developed in consultation with LGBTQIA+ Muslim voices, community organisations and cultural consultants.
Romeo and Hamed was first explored through a WIP 30-minute version December 2024.
Following this, Scott Horgan and Maddy Corner have developed the production and are proud to present the full-length version at Riverside Studios, with a cast of seven. The cast will be
announced in July 2026.
Sinew Productions, a newly established black box theatre company, launched its inaugural
showcase at The Golden Goose in 2024. The event spotlighted 25 creatives from diverse
disciplines and marginalised backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ voices, working-class artists, and individuals from ethnically diverse communities.
Slime and Pies is an emerging theatre company creating bold, politically engaged work. Since
2022, they’ve earnt recognition as a promising new-writing company, particularly for their
innovative work in creative captioning, and have worked at venues such as Edinburgh Traverse, Pleasance Islington and the Blue Elephant. Accessibility is central to their practice, with all performances creatively captioned and continually evolving through collaboration with leading practitioners. Committed to supporting emerging artists, the company champions new voices and high-quality work. They are currently Associate Artists at the Pleasance Theatre.
