She began her career 30 years ago as a frontline security officer and has risen to become CEO of the International Professional Security Association (IPSA), while also serving as COO of Leverage Security.
Supporting vulnerable communities

She is recognised with multiple awards for leadership, innovation, and social impact, and serves on several leadership boards, advising government and industry on best practice and policy.
Rooted in the values taught by her immigrant Sikh parents, Satia combines strategic vision with compassion, integrity, and courage, dedicating her career to building safer, more inclusive societies.
Authenticity and generosity
As she introduced Satia to the audience, Alison Wakefield, Professor of Criminology and Security Studies at UWL’s School of Human and Social Sciences, said:
“For the University of West London, Satia has been a valued contributor and role model. As a regular guest speaker to our criminology students, she shares not only her professional expertise expertise but also her personal story of courage and perseverance, motivating her to drive change across her industry.
Her authenticity and generosity have inspired many students, particularly those who see in her a reflection of their own experiences and aspirations.”
Addressing the graduates, Satia shared some advice drawn from her own leadership journey:
“People are the greatest investment any organisation will ever make. Lead with kindness. Lead with integrity. Be fair. Be transparent. Be people focused. Always do the right thing, even when you are the only person in the room. Never be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them.
“Do what you are passionate about. Love what you do. Have fun. Enjoy the journey. True achievement is giving back, empowering others and building strong, thriving communities.”
