Revealed: The Dynasty With the Most Expensive Tiaras
Although the British monarchy is widely considered the most popular royal family in the world, it is not the largest, or the oldest. In fact, there are 25 other monarchies currently active in the world, acting as figureheads or political leaders.
With becoming a princess the dream of many children, thanks in part to Disney’s ever expanding list of adaptations, it comes as no surprise that tiaras have remained a fashion staple throughout the years. In fact, searches for ‘tiaras’ have risen by 50% since June 2020. So, money.co.uk decided to investigate which royal tiara collections around the world are the most expensive with help from jewellers at Steven Stone.
In order to calculate a fair ranking of tiara collections, money.co.uk analysed the three most recent weddings from royal families in the last 100 years.

Money.co.uk can reveal that the United Kingdom and the Netherlands are tied for first place, with their three most recent tiaras totalling at £17,000,000. In the UK, the most recent tiara worn by a member of the British royal family is Queen Mary’s Diamond Fringe tiara, worn by Princess Beatrice at her July 2020 wedding. In the Netherlands, the most recent tiara worn by a member of the Dutch royal family is the beautiful Dutch Star tiara, worn by Queen Máxima at her wedding in 2002.
Following behind in second place is Norway, with a combined worth of £15,500,000 for the three most recently worn wedding tiaras. Crown Princess Mette-Marit is the most recent royal in Norway’s monarchy to wear a tiara at her wedding to heir apparent Haakon in 2001.
Looking at the bottom of the rankings is Sweden with the most recently worn wedding tiaras being valued at just over 5million – £5,050,000. With all three of Queen Silvia’s children getting married in the last decade, it is no surprise they are included in this list. The most recently worn tiara is the Palmette tiara by Sofia, wife to the Queen’s only son.
