Revealed: Snoop Dogg Beats Pro Chefs to Take Top Spot for the Most Searched Cookbook

Rap icon Snoop Dogg is the author of the world’s most Googled cookbook, new research has found.

Professional kitchen suppliers Maxima Kitchen Equipment analysed the average number of global Google searches per month for the word “cookbook” and filtered out the names of celebrities and professional chefs to see who had the most searched cookbook.

Taking the top spot is American rapper, actor and businessman Snoop Dogg. Once known exclusively for his music, he more recently branched out into the culinary field. After striking up a friendship with Martha Stewart, the pair ended up co-hosting the cooking show Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. Snoop Dogg then released his cookbook, From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen, which receives a total of 23,450 Google searches per month.

In second place is Brenda Gantt whose cookbook receives an average of 15,200 Google searches per month. She is a retired teacher who rose to fame as an internet personality after one of her home cooking videos went viral in March 2020. Her cookbook of family recipes and Southern-style meals has already sold out, resulting in individuals signing up to a waiting list for the second release.

Third place goes to Greg Doucette, a professional bodybuilding coach who frequently shares his knowledge and tips for training in YouTube videos. His anabolic cookbook is searched on average 10,200 times a month.

Israeli-born British chef Yotam Ottolenghi places fourth with a total of 9,450 Google searches per month. The culinary professional owns six food establishments in London and has released nine cookbooks, encapsulating Middle Eastern cuisine styles.

In fifth is Julia Child, the American chef often credited for bringing French cuisine to the States. Her cookbook is searched for an average of 8,500 times per month. She regularly appeared on Good Morning America and also starred in her own show, The French Chef. In 1993 she was inducted into the Culinary Institute Hall of Fame – the first woman to achieve the honour.

A spokesperson for Maxima Kitchen Equipment commented on the findings, “It is exciting to see that celebrities have released highly searched for cookbooks, bringing new faces to the industry and opening up the options for those looking for inspiration. Equally the searches show that the public still appears to seek tried and tested recipes from professional chefs. It is wonderful that individuals who have trained and committed their time to the culinary arts are receiving the recognition they deserve.”

Following in sixth is British chef Gordon Ramsay with 8,400 searches per month. He has seen massive success as a result of his Michelin star restaurants and his television shows such as Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. His achievements and service within the culinary field also earned him an OBE in 2006.

Seventh place is taken by another British culinary professional, Mary Berry. On average, searches for her cookbooks total 3,750 Google searches each month. The Great British Bake Off judge was recently awarded the honour of Damehood for her contributions to the industry.

Next is American model Chrissy Teigan in eighth place with 7,400 searches. Her third cookbook, the next instalment of Cravings, was released earlier this month.

The ninth spot is taken by Matty Matheson, whose cookbook receives 5,900 searches a month. The Canadian chef regularly appeared on Vice’s show Munchies and now uploads to his YouTube channel.

Taking the tenth spot on the list is television presenter James May. His cooking show, James May: Oh Cook!, was released on Amazon Prime in 2020 and has a cookbook to accompany it.

The research was carried out by Maxima Kitchen Equipment, which has more than 40 years of experience in the supply and maintenance of professional kitchen equipment.
