REVEALED: Families spending less time together this Christmas

Nearly a third (30%) of families spend more time apart than together during the Christmas holidays, according to new research.

In fact, almost a quarter (24%) now spend less than one hour together each day during Christmas, according to the study, conducted by Winter Glow.

Instead of quality family time and togetherness, the festive season is becoming a time of separate plans. More than a third (38%) claimed independent social plans as the main reason for the decline.

Rising costs squeezing household budgets are also dampening the Christmas spirit, with 32% of families making fewer plans because of the cost.

“These findings are really sad,” said Chris Tarren, Managing Director at Winter Glow. “It’s a crying shame that at Christmas, of all occasions in the year, families might be missing out on some much-needed magic together.
“Every year we see the smiles on the faces of families enjoying our Christmas event. So, when we found out that this year might feel different for some who are struggling with a combination of busy schedules and financial pressures, we made some changes. We hope our new ticket pricing and kids go free offer help families plan an unforgettable experience this Christmas.”

Winter Glow will transform the Showground into a festive wonderland, offering several attractions including ice skating, personalised Santa experiences, an illuminated light trail, UV mini golf, and the Big Wheel.
