Prime to combat Avril Lavinge’s ‘Girlfriend’, Daisy Harris releases ‘Your Girlfriend’
Her ability to tell stories across many different mediums displays her multifaceted talents allowing
her to feel connected to other people. The miscellany of vocals, piano and guitar showcases Daisy’s
organic musical alchemy… Her soft indie-pop approach to music amplifies her persona, in turn
strengthening her sense of empathy.’ – The Indiependent
‘Harris’s vocals are soft and heartfelt but there is an underlying depth to her voice which gives her
delivery a distinct tone.’ – Discovery Music Scotland
‘Beguiling… Harris’s cooing making you feel like this is a place you can settle.’ – SNACK Magazine
‘There is a genuine sense of provocative brilliance emanating from… Harris’ blend of genre-fluid music’ – Our Sound Music
‘Daisy Harris is brimming with imagination’ – The Mancunion
Creating her own unique flavour of genre-fluid music Daisy Harris takes inspiration from the likes of Mazzy Star and The Lemonheads to cement her brand of indie-pop guitar music. Her impressive musicianship shines through with her multi-instrumental ability and wonderfully translates into transcendental and heartfelt music.
Harris (vocals/ guitar/ banjo/ ukulele) has already worked the showcase circuit across Glasgow and with total self-sufficiency when it comes to recording and mixing and has been dominating the Manchester music scene with live shows.
Moving away from her usual 90’s-tinged sound, up-and-comer Harris has taken a jab at channelling her favourite artists of the 2000’s to deliver a fiery pop-fuelled cut about hating your friend’s boyfriend. Completely self-recorded in her flat, Lewis Morter mastered the track into the summery pop number fans were begging for in 2023.
‘Your Girlfriend’ comes following the release of the well-received EP ‘Forest Girl Rock’ early last December, and her dive into music videos with the visuals for ‘Known’ hitting screens just a few months ago.
Sitting firmly in the same narrative vein as Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfriend’, Harris pays tribute to the
female driven pop she grew up with: B*witched and Hilary Duff. Set to be released during pride month, Harris notes “I’m so excited to release this song during Pride Month -it’s definitely a song of the summer for queer girls!”.
Throughout Harris takes digs at her friend’s love interest stating, “Why do you dress like budget Nirvana? … Talk like Pat Bateman if you talk at all … Fuck that, fuck you, fuck your grandpa sweaters!”. Before playfully jabbing “I could take your girlfriend / I could make her shout my name… I know how to make her smile”.
Brimming with upbeat guitar strums, lush vocals, and ferocious energy, ‘Your Girlfriend’ is the perfect, empowering pop anthem for summer.
