Pamela Gwinnett was arrested by our officers at Manchester Airport last night (Thursday 30 July 2026) after returning to the UK to face justice for her crimes.

Gwinnett will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 31 July) in relation to her failing to appear at court previously.

Her arrest comes after a meticulous investigation where Gwinnett was found guilty of defrauding an elderly woman out of almost £300,000. She fled the UK for Tenerife in 2025 to evade authorities.

Gwinnett was convicted and sentenced to six years in prison in her absence in October 2025, for several offences including fraud by abuse of position and theft. At a subsequent Proceeds of Crime hearing, an order for £300,000 was granted.

Officer in charge of the investigation, PC Georgia Loughton, said: “This result is the culmination of a tenacious investigation ensuring that we secured justice for the family of the victim at the centre of this case.

“Work to convict Gwinnett and her evading justice has been ongoing for quite some time. We were relentless in our commitment to bring her back to the UK, where she will now serve her term in prison.

“I would like to thank the NCA and Spanish Police for their work with us on this case.

“Unfortunately, the victim in this case sadly passed away in 2022. Gwinnett’s actions have denied the victim’s family closure – we hope some from of closure comes from this result.”

Clare Meehan from the NCA’s National Extradition Unit said: “Pamela Gwinnett abused her position as a caregiver to commit serious fraud offences against a vulnerable woman.

“Since she fled the UK, the NCA has worked closely with Greater Manchester Police and our law enforcement partners in Spain to secure her return to face justice.

“We continue to operate around the world to ensure there is no place to hide for fugitives from UK justice.”
