Paddy McGuinness has teamed up with Onken to share his ‘life hacks’

The most stressful time of day has been revealed as 8.15am – with the prospect of the working day ahead, struggling to leave the house on time and oversleeping, being the most common early morning challenges, according to a poll commissioned by Onken yogurt.

The poll of 2,000 adults found 35 per cent of Brits experience stress during the first part of the day.

With the school run, losing house keys, and figuring out what to wear all common anxieties first thing. Dealing with the unpredictability of kids’ emotions, in addition to both feeding and dressing them, plus making their packed lunches also cited as challenges to overcome.

During a time of the day when every second seems to matter, those polled typically lose 20 minutes and 28 seconds to early morning trials and tribulations – however, help is at hand. As part of its ‘Feed Your Inner Happiness’ campaign, Onken has partnered with comedian and actor Paddy McGuinness to share his life hacks and ‘top tips’ to help people make more time for joyful moments.

The TV funnyman said: “Follow my foolproof tips and you’ll be ready to tackle life’s curveballs – while still having time for yourself. Trust me, in my whirlwind of a schedule, I know just how precious those joy-filled moments can be.”

Half of Brits (51 per cent) claim there’s ‘never’ enough time in the day to get things done, and a further 51 per cent said they’re ‘often overwhelmed.’ With 47 per cent claiming to be busier now than ever before. Which might explain why 35 per cent ‘don’t know’ how to find time to do things which make them happy, and why 37 per cent have ‘forgotten’ how to make time for themselves. The survey found that life’s happiness quota could also use a top-up.

Those polled believe the typical adult ‘needs’ 27 moments of happiness a week – roughly four a day. However, those polled actually get 20 – which is around three a day. As a result, 57 per cent think they should make more effort to prioritise doing things which make them happy. Spending more time getting lost in a good book (54 per cent) and tucking into delicious food (48 per cent) are both activities they’d like to be doing more of.

While 63 per cent would be interested in tips or advice on how to find more time for fun. Mathilde van Roon, Head of Onken, Emmi UK, added: “Let’s face it, the morning rush can often look like a comedy sketch gone wrong! Alongside Paddy, Onken is spooning a little joy into your daily dash to feed your inner happiness.”

PADDY MCGUINNESS’ TOP TIPS FOR MAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF:
1. Do ‘walkies’ without the leg work by putting the dog on the treadmill.
2. Create a ‘suction perfect’ ponytail in seconds by using the vacuum cleaner’s nozzle.
3. Streamline your morning by putting the kids in their school uniform the night before.
4. Create some personal gaming time by giving the kids controllers that don’t work.
5. Keep the kids at bay so you can do the cooking by slipping their top over a chair.
6. Get the kids to do the housework by attaching cleaning mitts to their outfit.
7. Stop the kids squabbling with a ‘Get Along T-shirt’ designed for two.
8. See to any accidental wardrobe mishaps like a true fashionista, with a bit of sticky tape.
9. Complete the kids’ homework with a little help from Chat GPT.
10. Get some precious time alone by playing ‘hide and no seek’.
