One of UK’s largest independent investment management and stockbroking firms bolsters North West presence with senior hire
One of the UK’s largest independent investment management and stockbroking firms has strengthened its North West team by appointing a new senior figure.
Award-winning firm Redmayne Bentley, which has been working in the finance sector for almost 150 years, has hired Andrew Shepherd as deputy head of its Manchester office.
As part of his new role, Andrew, who was previously deputy head of fellow Manchester wealth management business WH Ireland, will focus on managing portfolios for high-net-worth individuals, corporations and trusts on a bespoke, discretionary basis.
Andrew, a Northwest born and bred Chartered Fellow of The Securities Institute, said he was looking forward to “further enhancing the company’s enviable reputation as a leading provider of bespoke investment solutions.”
“Redmayne Bentley has a long and proud history of providing the very best personalised and friendly service,” he said.
“The business’s ambitions to develop its offering across the North West make this an exciting and dynamic time to become part of this evolution in the region.
“I very much look forward to becoming part of the Manchester team and working with the firm’s fantastic clients.”
James Igoe, head of Redmayne Bentley’s Manchester office, added that Andrew’s “impressive near 30-year career, which also includes roles at Barclays Wealth and Gerrards Wealth Management, made him a natural fit for the team.”
“We were immediately struck by Andrew’s impressive background and expertise, particularly his thorough understanding of the needs of Northwest clients,” he said.
“Andrew’s appointment is part of our commitment to continue to grow our presence across the North West and offer the same bespoke financial support our reputation is built on.”
Founded in Leeds in 1875, Redmayne Bentley now has 28 offices, including London, Glasgow and Belfast.
Since 2018, Redmayne Bentley has raised over £5,000 for North West children’s charities, including hospice Francis House, Destination Florida and The Toy Appeal.
Last month (April), the firm scooped the London Stock Exchange Award for Best Execution-Only Stockbroking at the City of London Wealth Management Awards. Other honours include the award for Best Wealth Manager for Tax Services at the Investors’ Chronicle Celebration of Investment awards 2023.
James said: “At a time when our industry continues to gravitate towards more automated and ‘off the shelf’ wealth management services for clients, our passion for personal relationships remains the cornerstone of our business.
