Nova Motorsport acquires leading tyre producer Camac
Nova Motorsport, a new global motorsport brand poised to revolutionise the world of premium competition and specialist tyres, has acquired Portugal’s national tyre manufacturer, Camac.
This strategic development follows Nova Motorsport’s recent acquisition of assets, including the brand licence for the manufacture and sale of a broad range of motorsport tyres under the names ‘Avon Motorsport’ and ‘Avon Racing’. The acquisition of Camac signals a significant expansion in Nova Motorsport’s capability and reach within the specialist and motorsport tyre industry, further cementing its exclusive role as global supplier of the vast majority of Avon Motorsport and Avon Racing products.
Based in Palmeira, Portugal, Camac boasts a production capacity of over 500,000 tyres annually. The company has long been established as a key player in the specialist tyre market, including the highly competitive motorsport sector. This acquisition marks a further pivotal step for Nova Motorsport towards becoming an independent powerhouse focused exclusively on developing and manufacturing high-performance motorsport tyres, and specialist tyres.
Located within the European Union, Camac’s manufacturing facility is ideally situated to serve Nova Motorsport’s customers across Europe and the rest of the world.
James Weekley, Nova Motorsport Commercial Director, said: “The acquisition of Camac represents a fundamental milestone in the execution of Nova Motorsport’s global business strategy. It not only solidifies our position as a leading independent tyre manufacturer for the motorsport and specialist tyre industries, but critically, it facilitates and accelerates the reindustrialisation of the Avon Motorsport product range.
“Nova Motorsport is proud to have recently employed some of the finest technical experts and engineers in the tyre and motorsport industries. We already have our own technical and manufacturing experts busy recommissioning the new factory, supported by our Global Technical Centre and HQ in Holt, England. Our focus remains steadfast on ensuring ultimate quality and performance in our products while continually advancing innovation in tyre technology.
Mike Lynch, Nova Motorsport Chief Technical Officer, added: “In addition to supporting existing customers and markets, we are also uniquely positioned to collaborate with companies seeking bespoke tyres for competition and specialist applications, offering unparalleled levels of ultra-rapid R&D, time-to-market and customer support.”
Acquiring Camac significantly bolsters Nova Motorsport’s mission to redefine the landscape of motorsport tyre production. With significant production capacity and an enhanced technical and engineering team, the brand is poised to deliver ground-breaking advancements in tyre performance and customer service to the global motorsport community.
Nova Motorsport has recently underlined its commitment to the motorsport community by committing to three significant multi-year partnerships. The brand is the official tyre supplier of the European-wide RallyX championship, the official tyre supplier of four prestigious Peter Auto historic racing series in Europe and the title sponsor and major tyre supplier of the British Hillclimb Championship.
