Employees at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Manchester have donated 60 educational kits to Newall Green Primary School, helping pupils explore Artificial Intelligence and express their creativity.

The donation included 30 Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning kits and 30 educational art kits, providing pupils with new opportunities to develop digital knowledge alongside creative skills.

The AI kits introduce pupils to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence through age-appropriate resources and activities, helping them understand what AI is, how it is used in everyday life and the ways it can support learning and problem-solving. The art kits include creative materials designed to encourage imagination and hands-on learning in the classroom.

Newall Green Primary School is committed to providing an engaging learning environment that helps pupils develop the skills and confidence they need for the future. The donation will support the school’s work to broaden learning opportunities across both technology and the arts.

Sam Wright, an employee from Amazon in Manchester who presented the kits to the school, said:

“Technology is becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life so it’s exciting to help introduce young people to AI in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand. I hope the AI and art kits encourage pupils to explore new ideas, ask questions and discover skills they can continue to build on as they grow.”

“These resources will be a fantastic addition to our classrooms. The AI kits will help introduce our pupils to emerging technology in an accessible way while the art kits provide opportunities for creativity and self-expression. We’re thankful to Amazon for supporting our pupils’ learning in such an innovative way.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. Northwest Multibank opened in Wigan in 2023, with The Brick. The Multibank network has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to over 800,000 families across Greater Manchester, Scotland, Wales, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.

Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
