Max Cooper: Manchester 3D/AV
Audio-visual artist and electronic musician MAX COOPER has announced a special one-off show at Manchester’s Gorilla this November.
Following the release of his sixth studio album ‘Unspoken Words’ earlier this year, the experimental artist will be bringing his unique live performance to Manchester on 11 November 2022. Of the upcoming show, Max says:
“I’m excited to bring my 3D audio visual show to Manchester for the first time. It’s not just a system to look nice, I’m interested in abstract storytelling through visualisations of scientific and natural systems. Every chapter is full of meaning and feeling and threads together into an event specific live show somewhere between theatre, cinema and a rave.”
With an international reputation as a leading musician and a science PhD, Max’s work carries an emotional resonance and sensory immersion that often focuses on humanity’s place in the world.
Merging electronic music and visual art with scientific enquiry through installations, live performance, immersive audio-visual experiences, a range of digital media and award-winning music videos, Max’s impressive back catalogue dates right back to 2007.
After starting to make music whilst juggling studying Computational Biology with a job as resident DJ at a local techno club, Max’s work to-date includes commissions from The Barbican, Waltham Forest Borough Council and France TV and more recently a powerful video narrated by Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis that played at COP26 and urged world leaders to consider the climate in Covid recovery plans.
After becoming the first techno artist ever to play at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece last year, Max has also created musical reworks of contemporary classical musicians including Philip Glass, Nils Frahm and Michael Nyman and pop artists Hot Chip and Moby.
Keen to explore the intersection between music, art and science through interdisciplinary means, Max’s most recent release ‘Unspoken Words’ was his most revealing work to date, leading listeners through a journey of escapism while connecting with personal stories of reflection, acceptance, idealism and rejection.
Now set to bring his innovative live show to Manchester, pre-sale tickets are available and on-sale now.
