Most Brits are familiar with Wetherspoons’ cheap and cheerful appeal, but beyond the pints and fry-ups, it’s the carpets which have become a cult favourite.

The famously loud and often bizarre designs aren’t random. With over 900 Wetherspoons pubs across the UK, each one features a completely unique, custom-designed carpet.

As Jon Randall, Wetherspoons’ head of property development told the Mirror:

“We place particular emphasis on the design of our new pubs, investing heavily in every aspect, as well as in the refurbishment of our older premises.

With more than 900 pubs, that is a lot of carpet. All of our new pub carpets are individually designed, some with details to reflect aspects of the building’s history or local area.”

This attention to detail inspired Kit Caless to launch a blog and Instagram account almost ten years ago. The blog,called “Wetherspoons Carpets”, each distinctive design in what’s become a grassroots archive of Britain’s most talked-about pub floors.

Manchester-based carpet store Urmston Carpets, conveniently located next to The Tim Bobbins, has compiled a ranking of the most loved Wetherspoons carpets in Greater Manchester based entirely on Instagram likes.
