Arcadia Roller Derby, in collaboration with Manchester Roller Derby and Rainy City Roller Derby, is proud to present Skaters Unite for Trans Rights, a roller derby fundraising event aimed at raising awareness and rallying support for transgender rights.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 6th, at Sugden Sports Centre in Manchester, kicking off at 11AM. This exciting day will feature three thrilling roller derby games, one of which will be open to all genders. Alongside players from the North West, the event will see participants from across England, Scotland and Wales coming together to celebrate inclusion and solidarity.
Half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Good Law Project, a non-profit organisation dedicated to holding the government to account and supporting human rights causes. The other half will go to Trans Mutual Aid Manchester, a local grassroots charity that provides support to trans and non-binary individuals in the region.
In addition to the roller derby action, the event will feature vibrant halftime entertainment, including a performance by Banksie, a Manchester-based drag performer and contestant on series 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, as well as the Lesbian Boy Band Choir, a local choir of lesbian and “lesbian-adjacent” singers known for their lively renditions of classic boyband songs.
Guests will also be able to browse a variety of stalls showcasing local queer vendors, pick up event merchandise, and enjoy an abundance of delicious cake.
As a league rooted in values of inclusion, respect and equity, Arcadia Roller Derby stands in unwavering solidarity with our transgender and non-binary teammates, as well as our broader derby community. Through this event, we aim to raise essential funds for trans-led organisations and send a clear message of support for trans rights. This event serves as a reminder that our community is committed to being a safe and inclusive space for everyone to participate fully and authentically.
