A new women’s wellbeing community supporting those navigating perimenopause and menopause is launching in Manchester this spring, with its first-ever event taking place on Sunday 1 March in the city centre.
Founded by yoga teacher Georgina Donnelly, Menopause Yoga Club (MYC) has been created as a warm, inclusive space for women seeking connection, practical support and nervous-system-focused movement during midlife.
The inaugural afternoon gathering will be held at Space at the Mill, Castlefield, and takes place ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, tapping into a wider moment of reflection, renewal and support for women.
Across Greater Manchester, access to menopause support can vary widely, with many women relying on overstretched GP services, limited specialist provision or informal peer networks for help.
Designed as a gentle introduction to MYC, the event combines menopause-informed yoga, open conversation and relaxed community connection in a non-clinical, welcoming environment.
“Menopause can feel incredibly isolating,” says Chorlton-based mum-of-one Georgina, 48. “So many women are told to just ‘get on with it’, or made to feel that their symptoms are something to endure quietly. Menopause Yoga Club is about creating a space where women feel seen, supported and understood — without judgement, pressure or jargon.”
Georgina brings a distinctive background to the project. She began her career working at the forefront of UK television production coordination on programmes including Parkinson and ITV’s Loose Women, before returning to Manchester and later training as a yoga teacher.
Her own experience of perimenopause, alongside motherhood and long-term yoga practice, led her to focus her work specifically on women’s hormonal health and nervous-system support.
“I’ve learned first-hand how deeply hormones, stress and the nervous system are connected,” she adds. “Movement that works with the body — rather than pushing against it — can be transformational, especially at this stage of life.”
The MYC launch event will include gentle Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra for deep rest, optional journalling, and time to connect with others. Herbal teas, healthy treats and a small symbolic gift will be provided for each attendee.
The event will also feature a guest talk from menopause support coach Jane Straccia known on Instagram as @themenopause_mum, who will lead an open, down-to-earth discussion encouraging women to share questions and real-life experiences.
Menopause Yoga Club is open to all women navigating perimenopause, menopause and beyond. No yoga experience is required, and attendees are encouraged to come exactly as they are — whether attending alone or with friends.
