Following the success of Jsky’s latest single Want U,À La Mode is a return to form for the Manchester singer, songwriter. The EP features two of his most loved works Keep Your Love On, and his self-love anthem Myself, as well as some new fun additions.

“I wanted to bring back the fun. 2020 was a difficult year for everyone so the main focus of this record was to make people feel good.”

There’s no denying that this is a fashion forward record; something that could be celebrated on catwalks and nightclubs once they undoubtably return. Earlier this year Jsky landed his own radio show on popular LGBTQ+ station Gaydio across the UK on DAB and 88.4 FM. Queer empowerment number Out is not only a welcome inclusion to the EP but sends a powerful message of acceptance and celebrating who you are.

“I never saw myself in the media when I was growing up. There still isn’t much representation when it comes to Pop music in the UK. This record is just as much about self-expression as it is about normalising gay culture.”

Jsky was accredited by the LGBT Foundation as a pioneer of colour during Black History Month and hosted Manchester Pride and the World Aids Day vigil with drag legends Danny Beard and Cheddar Gorgeous. Due to the ongoing lockdowns and current pandemic both events were held online with Jsky continuing to champion and drive efforts for LGBT charities. He has supported artists such as Tom Zanetti, Dappy and Misha B and can count the Major of Manchester Andy Burnham and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen as fans.

À La Mode feels different from Jsky’s previous EP Reality. Jsky has really honed in on his sound, fusing the best bits of House, Pop and R&B to create something altogether rather unique. It’s fun, fresh and filled with sass. I love the flow and the way he delivers his message; it’s positive but not too preachy. Jsky is a true wordsmith. My personal highlight is when he salutes fellow Mancunian legend Marcus Rashford on Game. This is a well thought out, futureproof pop-record that perfectly embodies the image of what we have grown to know and love about Jsky.
