MANCHESTER FAMILY CHARITY WELCOMES AMAZON DONATION
The Amazon team in Manchester has donated £1,000 to a charity that supports children and families in the city who are experiencing challenging times.
Home-Start Manchester is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through challenging times. Home-Start UK works with families in communities across the UK and provides specialist care catered to the individual.
The latest donation to Home-Start Manchester follows similar support in 2020, when the Amazon team donated £1,000.
Speaking on the donation, Darragh Kelly, General Manager at Amazon’s Manchester fulfilment centre, said:
“Home-Start Manchester’s staff and volunteers go that extra mile to support families in Manchester. We are pleased to donate to this charity, and we hope it gives the staff and volunteers a boost.”
This donation was nominated by Louise Bennett, an Amazon employee, who added: “It’s great that we have the opportunity to support charities that we have a personal connection with and I’m very please Home-Start Manchester received this donation.”
Sophie Healey from Home-Start, added:
“We believe that the best possible start in life for a child begins at home with their family. A nurturing, loving, stable family and home environment strongly determines a child’s future, and we want to provide this support for children. Home-Start Manchester depends on donations to fund its work, so we appreciate this contribution from Amazon.”
The charity received the donation as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic breakfast and delivering more than four million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
