MANCHESTER CHARITY WELCOMES DONATION FROM AMAZON TEAM

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Manchester has donated £1,000 to a charity supporting vulnerable adults in the city.

The donation was made to Back on Track Manchester, a charity that supports adults living with drug and alcohol abuse issues, mental health and wellbeing issues, and those transitioning from prison.

The charity hosts courses and training sessions to help with employment issues, sources accommodation to help with housing issues, and helps people access mental health support.

This donation will be used to fund a full six week course in Back on Track’s training cafe, which enables people to get the skills and qualifications they need for a career in catering. The course will give 20 people the chance to move on from problems in their past and make an exciting new start.

Ian Jackson, General Manager at Amazon in Manchester, said:

“Back on Track Manchester is a fantastic charity and we admire its dedication to helping those through the process of recovery and rehabilitation. We’re pleased to make this donation to its staff and volunteers.”

Sam Turner, Fundraising Manager from Back on Track Manchester said:

“Thank you to Ian and the team at Amazon for recognising and appreciating our efforts within the community. This donation will be a great help to our team, and the members we work hard to support on their journey towards a better future.”

Back on Track Manchester received the donation as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

The company provides students with online STEM courses and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than six million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas across the UK.
