Manchester charity receives donation from Amazon
A Manchester not-for-profit that supports people affected by poverty has received a £5,000 donation from the team at Amazon’s corporate office in the city.
The donation was made to Eat Well MCR, a charity that delivers up to 1,000 freshly cooked meals each week to vulnerable people across Manchester. The charity’s meals support families in temporary accommodation, women in sheltered accommodation and families who use foodbanks.
The donation from Amazon will go towards providing meals for those living in food inequality across Manchester.
Speaking on the donation, Matt Birch, Site Leader at the Amazon corporate office in Manchester, said:
“Eat Well MCR is an impactful charity in our community, and the meals they provide are a lifeline for many people in the Manchester community. With the rising cost of living, their work has never been more important so we’re pleased to support the charity’s dedicated team of staff and volunteers with this donation.”
Gemma Saunders from Eat Well MCR added:
“On behalf of everyone at Eat Well MCR, I’d like to thank the team at Amazon for this donation. Support like this ensures we can keep providing nutritious and home cooked meals for people in our community having a hard time.”
Community donations are one of several ways in which Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK. Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than six million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.
