Joanna Lumley praises King Charles as ‘completely wonderful’
TV legend Dame Joanna Lumley has paid tribute to King Charles after one year of his reign, calling him “completely wonderful”.
Asked what she thought of the King, she told GB News: “I think completely wonderful. I think he was the best Prince of Wales this country has ever seen.
“And if that’s not training as an understudy to be a king, I can’t think what is.”
In a discussion with GB News’ Political Editor Christopher Hope, she added: So I think he hasn’t, to use the old phrase, he hasn’t put a foot wrong, and I’m so pleased that it’s all going well for him.
“And it’s wonderful to see Queen Camilla by his side and just there’s such joy and love where they go and they bring such concern for people.
“I think that’s quite often overlooked, how caring they are for what we would call the ordinary man.”
Speaking in Downing Street after delivering a petition calling for a ban on live exports of animals, she was asked if she would be applying to the Garrick Club again following reports that it may admit women members for the first time.
She was denied membership when she applied 12 years ago and joked: “My husband’s a member, he takes me when he goes.”
