INNOVATIVE BUSINESS BRINGS AN END TO NEEDLESS ISOLATION

The global pandemic has caused untold upset and turbulence both personally, physically and financially across the world but there have been many moments of innovation too.

In the UK alone, we’ve seen individuals and organisations capitalising on the need for PPE, which some have labelled as profiteering while others have understood the dire need for swift delivery of vital equipment. Other companies have gone further though, investing their own time, effort and funding into helping the UK recover from the uncertainty and economic impact Covid-19 has caused.

One organisation that has done just that is CSC Tests. After introducing a simpler, more efficient self-test kit – which only has to be inserted into the tip of the nostrils rather than at the far back of the nose – CSC Tests developed a software solution that enables simple, clear tracking of tests and workforces through an easy-to-understand traffic light system.
This solution has since proved vital for large organisations who would have otherwise felt the impact on both resources and finances from the ‘Pingdemic’, when individuals were forced to isolate, often needlessly, after being tracked within 50 metres of someone with Covid.

Instead, with CSC Tests’ solution, the CSC App, employers can track their workforce with the 99.8%-accurate CSC Tests once a result has been manually uploaded into the software. This is done by inputting the results into an app, along with a selfie and a phone’s unique IMEI number that tracks the devise’s geographic location at the time of upload. This result is then displayed in the software’s platform so employers have full visibility of their workforce and any test results.

If someone catches Covid, or is forced to isolate as a result of being near a carrier, they will show as red in the system. As their isolation proceeds they will turn to amber, so managers have clear visibility of their return date, before becoming green. The benefit of the CSC App solution is when an individual marked as read inputs two negative test results over two consecutive days, which automatically greenlights them to return to work.

This solution has been used to great effect by Worcester Bosch, who employ more than 2,500 people and were heavily impacted by isolation rules before implementing the CSC App solution.

‘We used the CSC App to better control the safe working of Field Service Engineers and Apprentices who have had to work in pairs during the Coronavirus Pandemic,’ explains Allan Ovington, Service Engineering Manager at Worcester Bosch.

‘Giving these colleagues the opportunity to regularly take Lateral Flow Tests, and the ability to demonstrate their negative status to each other on the App, has given them greater confidence to work together. This added tool for those team members who have to travel in the same vehicle between jobs, and work together, sometimes in close proximity; has been a useful extra benefit during these challenging months.

‘As I received a notification each time a test was completed and uploaded onto our company portal, it gave me the visibility that the process was being followed by the field teams, which in turn has supported our confidence that we’ve been able to continue supporting our customers as safely as possible.’

James Hyslop, founder of the app, added: ‘We’re really pleased to be helping large workforces continue throughout these uncertain times.

“The pandemic has been so detrimental to the British economy, disrupting lives both professionally and personally. It’s now vital that everyone is given the opportunity to work and help the UK fulfil its potential once again.’
