How can technology save the hospitality sector? New NOMM app sees resounding success
The hospitality sector is set to reopen across England on December 3 but will be subject to the revised tier system, which will come into effect following the end of the current lockdown. This is highly likely to cause drastic fluctuations in consumer behaviour due to the constantly shifting regulations. In light of this, it cannot be denied that there is a need for a stronger technological presence in the sector, to adapt to and overcome the challenges Covid throws its way.
The NOMM (New Order, Magic Menu) hospitality app hopes to do exactly that and has seen resounding success since its launch. With a range of AI-backed features, including map search, delivery, interactive menus, in-app payments, facial recognition and dietary & allergen information, the customer experience is dramatically enhanced, and ushers in a new age of hospitality.
Partnering with Brighton and Hove-based independent bar and restaurant, Rockwater Hove, NOMM is enabling their Shacks By The Shore to offer remote ordering, in-app payments, and takeaway food and drink options to their customers. In the first week alone of NOMM’s launch with Rockwater, there have been over 2,500 app downloads, more than 1,250 transactions and over £18,000 worth of sales through the app.
Will Broome, CEO of NOMM (https://ubamarket.com/nomm/), comments on NOMM’s partnership with Rockwater Hove’s Shacks By The Shore, and discusses the need for contactless tech in bars and pubs following the lift in lockdown:
“Our partnership with Rockwater Hove has proven exactly how integral technology is to the hospitality sector. The astonishing number of app downloads, transactions and sales have highlighted how businesses must adapt to the challenges Covid throws their way. This partnership demonstrates a clear focus on the evolution of the customer experience, placing convenience and safety of customers and staff first.
Now, as bars and pubs prepare for the end of the winter lockdown, possibly even seeing a rush in customers in the lead up to Christmas, it is of paramount importance that hospitality businesses are able to successfully return to trading, whilst still maintaining hygiene and safety standards and offering a quality customer experience. Mobile technology represents a key solution to a number of the challenges posed by increased safety and hygiene measures, by enabling features such as in-app payments and remote ordering which can dramatically cut down on person-to-person contact, overcrowding and potentially dangerous interactions in the venue.
Ultimately, tech-based solutions such as NOMM will help bars, pubs and other hospitality venues to dramatically improve the convenience, speed and safety of their customer experience, leading to increased popularity, success and growth beyond the Coronavirus crisis.”
